Spicy
Cocoa
The trick to this is to place the marshmallows on the
top quickly so they will melt into the hot cocoa. This is a great
tummy-warmer!
Ingredients you will need to
make 4 servings:
1/4 cup/60 ml Watkins Baking Cocoa
- 1/3 cup/80 ml sugar
- 1/2 tsp/2.5 ml Watkins Cinnamon
- Pinch of Watkins Cloves
- Pinch of Watkins Allspice
- 1/4 cup/60 ml hot water
- 3 cups/750 ml milk
- 1 cup/250 ml miniature marshmallows
- 4 cinnamon sticks
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the cocoa, sugar, cinnamon,
cloves, allspice, and hot water; mix it together until it is all
smooth.
- Place the saucepan on the stovetop over medium heat.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook and
stir 2 minutes.
- Add milk and heat just until it is hot; do not
boil.
- Pour carefully into cups.
- Put marshmallows on top while the cocoa is still very hot so
they will melt.
- Use your cinnamon stick to stir your
cocoa.
What
are cinnamon sticks? Where do they come
from?
Cinnamon is actually the bark of an evergreen tree that grows in Asia. During the rainy
season, the bark is stripped from the trees. When the bark
dries, it curls up into tight sticks. These are great for
stirring cocoa or for decorating, but nearly all recipes call for
ground cinnamon. The sticks are hard to grind at home, so
Watkins does it for you! | Spicy Raisin Oatmeal Mix
