Health Cookies
1 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup crushed nuts
1 egg 1/2 cup grated carrots
1/4 cup flax (seed or ground) 3 tsp water
1 tsp Watkins D.S. Vanilla 1 cup raisins
1 cup flour 1 3/4 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup wheat germ 1/2 tsp Watkins Baking Powder
1/2 cup chocolate (or carob) chips
Beat sugar, eggs and butter & vanilla till smooth. Add dry ingredients alternately with carrots and water. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet sprayed with Watkins Cooking Spray, approx. 2 " apart. Bake @ 350 F for 10-12 minutes.

Easy & Inexpensive Potpourri Place 1 cup of water & 2 tsp of Watkins Pumpkin-Pie Spice into a large microwave safe bowl. Heat on high until the mixture boils. Cook for 3 minutes, then let sit for 15 minutes, and your home will smell wonderful. |
Vegetable Borscht

Perfect for these cold Winter days!
1 onion, chopped
2 large fresh beets, peeled & chopped
1 medium carrot, sliced
1 large potato, peeled and cubed
4 c water
3 TBSP Watkins Beef Soup Base
¼ small head cabbage, shredded
1 fresh tomato, chopped
2 TBSP Watkins Parsley
½ tsp Watkins Dill
1 tsp salt
1 tsp lemon juice
Watkins Pepper (whole or cracked)
In a large saucepan, combine onion, beets, carrot, potato water & soup base. Bring to boil; cover and simmer for 30 minutes, skimming foam if necessary. Add cabbage, tomato, parsley and dill; simmer for 30 minutes longer, or until vegetables are tender. Season with salt and fresh ground pepper to taste and lemon juice. Top each serving with 1 tsp of sour cream. Makes 8 serving (1 cup each)
Per serving: 53 calories and 1.4 grams fat

Quick n’Easy Chicken Holidays are over and we want "easy" recipes to make. This one is easy and low in fat and calories… perfect for the "weight conscious"! For 4 chicken breasts (2 cut in half), mix 4 TBSP of Watkins Onion Soup & Gravy with 2 TBSP Watkins Mushroom Soup & Gravy and add enough orange juice to make a thin paste. Baste over chicken. Bake covered for 45 to 60 minutes at 375°. Serve with Watkins Brown & Wild or Heartland Medley Rice Blends. Our rice blends are easy to prepare & unique in flavour--add a teaspoon of Watkins Chicken Soup & Gravy to the water before cooking for additional flavour. |

Turkey Pot Pie Filling: Melt 6 TBSP butter. Add 6 TBSP flour, ½ tsp salt & ¼ tsp Watkins Onion & Garlic Pepper. Cook: Over low heat, stirring one minute Add slowly: 1¾ c water (with 3 TBSP Watkins Chicken Soup & Gravy dissolved in it) and 2/3 to 1 cup milk Cook: Slowly until thickened Add: 1½ c diced turkey (or chicken) and 2 cups partly cooked vegetables Place mixture in uncooked pie shell. Cover with additional crust and bake at 425º for 35 minutes. Variation: Place mixture in pie pan and cover with file pastry and bake same as above. This is also very nice served over baked potatoes, toast points or biscuits! Add a salad and fresh bread/biscuits and you have dinner!! |
